Congressional Republican Leaders Blame Financial Crash on “Obamacare”

Speaking this morning to a group of reporters, House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell both spoke at length about our economy, national debt and of course President Obama's leadership.

In what has become a cornerstone of the Republican Party since 2009, it didn't take either of these gentlemen long before the topic of the Affordable Care Act was brought up.

Except, neither man knew what that was.

A reported asked both men, "So what role do you think the Affordable Care Act has had on our economy?"

To which Boehner replied, "The what?"

McConnell also seemed confused as to what the reporter was asking.  "The Affordable Car Act?  What's that, a new Obama socialized plan to give everyone a free car?"

Then an unknown teenage intern from the Daily Caller shouted, "They mean Obamacare!"

At that point both men realized what the reporter was asking.

Boehner immediately went on the attack against Obamacare.  "Oh, you mean the law which caused our financial crash," he said.  "You tell me, what role do you think it's had?  Was the Great Recession good for America?"

McConnell backed Boehner, "I'm sick of the liberal media trying to blame our financial crash on the good people of Wall Street.  Big banks had nothing to do with what happened to our economy.  Obamacare is what caused this crash and the sooner it's repealed the better off we'll be as a nation."

Stunned, the reporter followed by saying, "But… the financial crash happened before Obama became President and more than a year before the Affordable Care—uh, I mean Obamacare was signed into law.  How did it cause our economic crash?"

Boehner poked fun at the reporter, claiming he was obviously "liberally biased" and "it's clear he doesn't work for Fox News."

McConnell, equally disgusted by the reporter's line of questioning, agreed.  "Look, anyone with access to Fox News, the Heritage Foundation or Rush Limbaugh knows Obamacare is the cause for almost every problem in America.  Heck, we've still yet to get an answer from the President on where Obamacare was on 9/11.  How do we know it wasn't behind the terrorist attack?  Where was Obamacare on April 14, 1865?  My sources tell me Obamacare had tickets to Ford's Theatre that night.  Really makes you think, doesn't it?"
