Reid is going to put pressure on the Republicans-plus-Ben-Nelson today on Wall Street reform today, all day, and over night.
Democratic aides said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) plans to keep the Senate in session overnight to force Republicans to reconsider their opposition to the Democratic legislation.
Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) said leaders had decided to hold a nighttime session to highlight GOP opposition to the Wall Street reform bill.
Ezra has a theory on the strategy here: "[I]f the Democrats are serious about forcing the Republicans to really filibuster the bill, this is the right week for it: The Kentucky Derby starts Friday, and Kentucky's senior senator, Mitch McConnell, would surely prefer to attend."
A Senate aide tells me that there will be a series of quorum calls "every hour, on the hour" tonight, led by the Freshman Dems. Expect to see them roll out the cots this afternoon, to punctuate the resolve to go all night, and perhaps to persuade those Republicans who are going to switch to just do it already and let everyone go home tonight.
