U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced Thursday that some Illinois health centers will get a portion of a $6 million pot of federal money dedicated to helping enroll the uninsured as part of the new health care reform law.
The more than 40 eligible health centers, such as Circle Family Healthcare Network in Chicago, can apply to use the money in part for staff training and new hires. Some of the funds can also be used for community outreach related to the health care reform law and insurance options.
Health centers will help people find out what health insurance they are eligible for and help them enroll for new coverage.
The federal government is doling out about $150 million to health centers nationally in efforts to enroll the uninsured.
Here is list of Illinois health care centers that are eligible for the federal funds.
