There were rumors flying about this yesterday, but it looks like CNN has confirmed it now:
An attendee at the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Tuesday allegedly threw nuts at a black camerawoman working for CNN and said "This is how we feed animals" before being removed from the convention, a network official confirmed to TPM.
What's curious about this is that CNN, so far, has largely clammed up on it. They've been unwilling to give details on who the ejected conventioneer was, or what in hell could have provoked the confrontation. Why not? The common supposition is that CNN does not want to "become the story," or to be seen as having a conflict with the Republican convention itself. That seems a poor reason to simply ignore a blatant act of racism on the convention floor, however. Were the attendees delegates? Were the attendees officials of some sort? CNN isn't telling us.

CNN has made quite the attempt to cater to the tea party in recent years, even going so far as to hire some, shall we say, deeply unprofessional on-air voices in an effort to curry favor with the far-Right. I'm not sure whether CNN's unwillingness to report on a story their own cameraperson witnessed, and was a part of is meant to be part and parcel of these efforts, but so far, it seems the network has decided that racial attacks during the Republican National Convention aren't unique newsworthy enough to be reported on.
