The ship has sailed on a possible Sanford resignation, but stories like these make it clear that Sanford, whom many economic conservatives considered a strong possible presidential candidate in 2012, would have been felled by the scrutiny into his habits. You can't run as an economic conservative while explaining away a thousand-dollar haircut. What would Mike Huckabee have said?
