Massive Job Loss An Embarrassing Way To Celebrate Dr. King's Birthday January 15th

Where are all the candidates wanting to be elected to something in February saying how concerned they are about jobs and yet no Mayoral Candidates, Aldermanic candidates have ANYTHING to say TODAY about 13,000 poor Chicagoans about to lose their jobs this week?

• Last week when I was at The Rainbow/PUSH Coalition meeting, Rev. Jackson reminded me and others of how Dr. King spent his own last birthday planning a march for jobs, so as we now approach Dr. King's birthday celebration it will be celebrated with the announcement of a massive jobs layoff. Instead of celebrating people going to work in celebration of Dr. King, we will be analyzing the devastating impact of this massive job loss of 26,000 "Put Illinois To Work" workers from poor communities across the State with about 13,000 in Chicago, workers that do not qualify for unemployment so they will headed right back to life threatening and desperate economic conditions of the streets.Governor Pat Quinn has stretched The Illinois budget to save these jobs twice while we waited to see if the federal funding requests to continue the program would be approved, and to date it has not so now we are looking at this massive loss of jobs and no major concerned being expressed by the media, our civil rights organizations, our local, state, and federal legislators,  candidates for Alderman or Chicago Mayor, but for that matter there has not even been a "Save Our Jobs" Rally from the workers themselves as their $10 and hour jobs are about to end just before Dr. King's birthday on January 15th.

• Former Illinois Senator Roland Burris joined Senator Dick Durbin in lobbying for the new federal funding to keep these 26,000 Illinois workers working, but there has been no public statement from new Illinois Senator Mark Kirk on whether or not he supports the federal funding to keep these 26,000 workers working, or does he want to commemorate Dr. King's birthday by informing these workers that they instead are going to be part of a massive Dr. King job layoff in Illinois on January 12th, just prior to Dr. King's actual birthday January 15th.With the next election being in February and with so many candidates from Aldermen to Mayor all say they are concerned about jobs that with 13,000 Chicago voters about to lose their jobs in just a matter of days that there would be more concern from those wanting to be elected and those incumbents wanting to be reelected  would be doing more publicly mobilizing to fight to save these jobs to earn their votes..
