With the release of President Obama's long form birth certificate earlier today, naturally the lunatic, racist fringe—also known as a huge chunk of the Republican Party—are hanging their heads in shame for the false claims they've been making. Or not:
Phil Berg, who filed one of the original birther lawsuits, now believes that Obama was adopted by his Indonesian father and lost his U.S. citizenship. [...]Orly Taitz, once called 'Queen of the birthers' and who was responsible for a number of lawsuits, is verifying the document's authenticity and now believes that the President is using a false social security number.
... while World Net Daily—ground zero for the birther movement—came out with a statement saying:
We look forward to reviewing it like so many other Americans do at this late date. But it is important to remember there are still dozens of other questions concerning this question of eligibility that need to be resolved to assure what has become a very skeptical public concerning Barack Obama's parentage, his adoption, his citizenship status throughout his life and why he continues to cultivate a culture of secrecy around his life.
... as the rightwingnuttiablogosphere have already:
... dismissed the new copy as either a forgery or as evidence that Obama doesn't satisfy the "natural born citizen" clause of the Constitution as part of the eligibility requirements for American presidents.
That the birthers aren't satisfied with the release of the long form birth certificate isn't surprising. Birthers aren't satisfied because no matter how many documents Barack Obama releases it will never be enough, because there isn't a document in the world that will turn him white.
